A safari to the north via the high shoulder of Mountain Kenya to the Game Reserve of Shaba a park popular for the 3 Cats then to Lake Nakuru one of the alkaline Rift Valley lakes and a fantastic bird sanctuary. Its shores are eye catching being home to more than one million flamingos. Maasai Mara is a Game Reserve for the big five and the annual wildebeest migration that takes place from July through to September. Thereafter visit the coastal region for your beach holiday enjoying the serene, the azure water of the Indian Ocean and white sandy beaches.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1: Nairobi – Mount Kenya

    Arrive in Nairobi, met, and depart immediately for Mount Kenya national park, arriving at your “Tree hotel”, Serena Mountain lodge in time for lunch. Here you can observe wild animals from your verandah as they come to drink water at the water hole. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

  • Day 2: Mount Kenya – Shaba

    Breakfast and depart for Shaba game reserve, cross the Equator and continue to Shaba, game viewing as you enter the park. We arrive in Sarova Shaba lodge for lunch. Afternoon game tracking in Shaba game reserve. Dinner and overnight in your luxury lodge.

  • Day 3: Shaba

    The whole day is dedicated to game tracking in this arid and sprawling reserve. Unique spots here include: Long-necked gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich and other plains game with their predators. All meals and overnight at the lodge.

  • Day 4: Shaba – Lake Nakuru National Park

    After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru national park, descending down the spectacular Great Rift Valley, via Nyahururu Falls, arriving at Sarova Lion Hill lodge for lunch.
    Afternoon game viewing in the park, famous for its millions of pink flamingos and other aquatic birds. You will also visit the Rhino Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

  • Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara Game Reserve

    Breakfast and depart for the world famous Maasai Mara , arriving at Sarova Mara luxury camp for lunch. Afternoon game tracking where lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, elephant, wildebeest, bongo, topi, eland and hundreds of species of birds are easy spots. Dinner and overnight in your luxury camp.

  • Day 6: Full Day Masai Mara Game Reserve

    The whole day is dedicated to game viewing. Masai Mara is an extension of Serengeti national park in northern Tanzania, where millions of herbivores migrate annually, followed by their predators. An optional visit to a Masai village or a hot-air balloon ride, which takes off at 06.00 am and ends with a Champagne breakfast on the plains can be organized. What an exhilarating experience! All meals and overnight in your camp.

  • Day 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Nairobi – Mombasa

    After breakfast we depart for Nairobi, driving through breathtaking vistas of the Great Rift Valley, arriving at the famous Carnivore restaurant for lunch. This one is renowned for its succulent steaks, including game meat. After lunch transfer to the airport for your flight to Mombasa, where you’ll be met by our representative and transferred to your beach hotel where you’re booked on half board basis.

  • Day 8: Full Day Mombasa

    Today we’re on a city tour, which includes a visit to Akamba handicraft factory, the largest in East Africa. After lunch in local surroundings, we proceed on a village tour to see and learn how Kenyans live. We shall also participate in some of the traditional activities.

  • Day 8: Mombasa Mombasa – Nairobi – flight

    You’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Nairobi to connect on your international flight.

TECHNICAL CLIMBING GEAR FOR NELION AND BATIAN PEAKS

The weather can vary hugely but commonly you would climb in quite a few layers. For example a base layer, insulated Gilet, softshell jacket, hardshell jacket, thin softshell trousers, hat under your helmet, liner socks inside your climbing shoes and possibly close-fitting fingerless gloves. You may also need a warm belay jacket at stances.
